Dr. Michel Poulain
Blue Zones | Founder & Professor
Michel is one of the three blue zone founders and an expert on longevity. He has been involved with centenarian studies since 1992. In 2000, he met and validated various centenarians in Sardinia with Gianni Pes and discovered that in certain areas (coined the blue zones), there was an exceptionally high longevity within the population. Dan Buettner joined the duo and they worked to expand the blue zones to validate several more areas including Okinawa (Japan), Loma Linda (California), the Nicoya Peninsula (Costa Rica) and Ikaria (Greece).
