Today, we sit down with Maxwell Nee, founder of online coaching service High-Performing Coach, who felt that working for himself was the only option. With Malaysian Chinese parents, Maxwell recalls that high standards for himself were always present, whether he achieved them or not. After suppressing his dreams for the sake of a stable career, Maxwell came face to face with the realization that he had to take the steps to do what he loves. Join us as we learn how Maxwell explored what he truly needed from his career, and networked with people around the world to make what he wanted a reality.

  • Childhood: With high expectations within his household while growing up in Australia, Maxwell learns to let the stress and pressure slide right off of him.

  • Boxing Day: In high school, Maxwell unwraps the first taste of organizing events by organizing a Boxing Day party for the entire grade.

  • So He Thought He Could Dance: Maxwell battles with pursuing his true passion in high school -- dance. Could it be a viable career?

  • Banking on It: After deciding to take life seriously, Maxwell decides to work in banking, but he isn’t really sure that he should commit to it in the long term. He decides to instead move all the way to Canada.

  • Surfing Through Canada: Maxwell finds that even a fun startup environment across the globe isn’t his place in life, so he quits his job and couch surfs until he can find where he belongs.

  • Desperate for Results: Borrowing money from his brother to take a course in digital marketing, Maxwell pushes himself to the brink to try to make sure his endeavor is a success.

  • Starting Up: After getting his first client, Maxwell also befriends another business enthusiast across the globe in Spain to work on their own startup.

  • Engaging the World: Maxwell’s business holds completely sold out events, until COVID hits. But it turns out, COVID brings more to the table for engaging events.

  • Today and Beyond: Maxwell shares how COVID influenced his coaching business and how he anticipates it to evolve in the future.
