Episode Description

Starting anything can be daunting. As everyone knows, planning for the future can be extremely beneficial; but, how early does one need to start preparing? Ammar Belal's entrepreneurial career began before he was even born. In this episode of Founder Wisdoms, we explore the ways one can be prepared for a life in business, and how useful that preparation is. Originally from Pakistan, Ammar grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, his father ran one of the biggest textile manufacturers in the country. His family eventually moved to America and settled in Boston. During business school, he kept his interest for fashion alive by traveling abroad and completing a fashion internship in London. Unfortunately after 911 his fashion dreams went on hold and his family business went bankrupt. He first dabbled in designing clothes by volunteering at his mothers store, and took other routes to try to get exposure, such as writing songs and shooting films. In his home country he was able to make a name for himself with this brand.  Eventually, he became the face on billboards for telecommunication companies. But after a midlife crisis he realized he wanted to really pursue his fashion dreams. He went back to school, becoming the first man from Pakistan to get into the masters program. He decided to launch his own fashion brand, 1432 . He had a vision for his brand, to not only make amazing clothes but also be able to give back to his communities, by donating 50% of their profits. The first 4 years were a struggle, but unlike many companies, after putting his boots on the ground and selling his clothes in local markets, he was able to thrive through the pandemic. Since then his company and brand has continued to grow.
